This Monday, February 28, Disney has spoken about the war between Russia and Ukraine, the last mentioned country being the most affected after the massive attacks of the nation led by Vladimir Putin.
It turns out that Disney is temporarily pausing all releases of its upcoming movies, including partner studios like Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Animation, Lucasfilm, Pixar and Marvel Studios. Since the Red tape, no production will be launched in Russia until further notice, that is, until the violence ends.

“Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing the release of films in Russia, including Pixar’s upcoming Turning Red. We will make future business decisions based on the evolution of the situation. In the meantime, given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis, we are working with our partner NGOs to provide urgent relief and other humanitarian assistance to refugees,” Disney’s statement read.
This is the first statement from such a large and valued company in the film industry. On the other hand, the Ukrainian Film Academy just a few days ago asked the world to ‘boycott’ Russian cinema, as it has been doing in other sectors such as the economic, social and now latest in sports.
