The Civil Guard recovers about 500 cartridges of different calibers, mixtures and numerous triggers
The Civil Guard has dismantled an illegal explosives workshop and a private shooting range on a farm in Campos del Río. Its owner was arrested and is considered the perpetrator of the crimes of depositing ammunition and explosives, illegal manufacturing of explosives and risk caused by explosives and other agents.
Operation ‘Bullman’ began when the Civil Guard became aware of a series of detonations and explosions that occurred around a rural area in the Murcian municipality of Campos del Río. The first investigations revealed that the origin was in a country house where a 35-year-old Dutch citizen with a record for the crime of forest fire caused by pyrotechnic devices resided.
The examination of the property resulted in the seizure of nearly 500 metallic cartridges of different calibers, more than 500 grams of explosive mixtures, abundant fuses –used to detonate explosive devices remotely–, batteries, cables, connectors, emitters/receivers. of radiofrequency, a homemade electric initiator and numerous lead projectiles that can be used as shrapnel.
maneuvering field
On the same farm, the agents found an artisanal shooting range established at the entrance to the plot and a maneuvering range with several large craters supposedly produced by the remote explosion of explosive devices.
According to the investigation, the detainee was engaged in the handmade manufacture of improvised explosive devices (IED) from pyrotechnic devices that he attached to other heavy objects used as shrapnel and even secondary charges, which were exploded at a distance with electric detonators and other initiating devices that he also made by hand. Proof of such practices was the discovery of a completely destroyed butane gas bottle in the vicinity of the house, to which the risk of fire would be added.
The detainee, the ammunition and pyrotechnic materials seized, as well as the instructed proceedings have been made available to the court of first instance and instruction number 1 of Mula. The investigation remains open.
Civil guards from the Murcia Information Group participated in the ‘Bullman’ operation, with the support of the Special Central Unit number 3 of the Information Headquarters, and with the participation of Citizen Security personnel, specialists in the Intervention of Weapons and Explosives, of Seprona and the Explosives Deactivation Group (GEDEX)
