Maxi collision on the A12 between Rapallo and Chiavari: one dead and several injured
One dead and ten injured in one huge accident in A12 between Rapallo and Chiavari near this last town, direction Livorno, which occurred just before 7am. Several ambulances and 118 medical vehicles, the fire brigade and the traffic police attended the scene. The section was closed to allow the air ambulance to land.
According to initial information, a minivan with 9 workers (all foreigners) on board traveling in the direction of Livorno would have overturned and spun out, placing itself on the road in the opposite direction. Apparently the workers got out of the vehicle and two of them, especially due to the darkness, were hit by the oncoming cars. One torn apart by means. Five other vehicles were involved in the huge pile-up.

At the moment the motorway is paralyzed in the Lavagna-Chiavari section, with traffic diversion onto the Aurelia: the Polstrada reports a four-kilometer queue between Recco and Rapallo in the direction of Livorno; another three kilometers between Sestri Levante and Chiavari towards Genoa.
On site, beyond the Police and Autostrade staff, there are ambulances from the White Cross, the Rapallo Rescue Volunteers, the Green Cross and Red Cross of Chiavari, the Red Cross of Santa Margherita Ligure; the firefighters of Chiavari while the Grifo helicopter took off from Albenga.
Eight injured they were transferred to the nearby emergency room of the Lavagna hospital, two others more seriously ill and in code red to the San Martino Polyclinic in Genoa by helicopter and with an ambulance.
