One of the controversies that was born in the world of movies a few months ago was Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, a project that will give a twist of terror to the world we know from the nice adventures of the yellow bear. This is mainly because the franchise has gone into the public domain, which is why anyone can use it.
During an interview with Varietythe director of the film, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, talked about the plot of the upcoming horror adaptation. This one features Pooh Y piglets as “the main villains… going on a rampage after Christopher Robin Ileaves you to go to university, it should be clarified, that they are characters with human appearance.
Here is the director’s comment:
Christopher Robin is taken away from them, and he hasn’t given them food, it has made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult. Because they have had to fend for themselves so much, they have essentially gone feral. So, they have returned to their animal roots. They are no longer tame: they are like a vicious bear and pig who want to run around and try to find prey.
When you’re trying to make a movie like this, and it’s a really crazy concept, it’s very easy to go down a route where nothing is scary and it’s really ridiculous and really stupid. And we wanted to go between the two.
The director revealed that other characters, such as tigerThey would not appear in the film. It is about copyright: tigeramong others, are still protected. Eeyore could be in the movie, but it turns out we’ll just see the donkey’s tombstone, as his former friends ate him, a fact that shows the wild nature of the characters.
In addition, they assure that there will be no similarities with the productions of Disneysince certain features are the property of the company:
We have tried to be extremely careful. We knew there was a line between that, and what their copyright was and what they had done. So we did everything we could to make sure the movie was only based on the 1926 version. That’s why Pooh wears a lumberjack outfit while Piglet is dressed in black.
For now, there is no release date for Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey.
