The 2022 season will see many Italians debuting in MotoGP and we had a little taste of next year during the two days of testing in Jerez de la Frontera, which took place between Thursday and Friday. Fabio Di Giannantonio also took to the track on the Andalusian track, promoted to the premier class with the Gresini team. The Roman rider will join Enea Bastianini and has already had the opportunity to try the MotoGP in these two days of testing.
The first sensations were incredible for the rookie, who once got off the bike was enthusiastic about this new adventure that awaits him. If you look at the times table, Diggia it is not exactly among the best, but we know that in tests you do not look for time, on the contrary. The Roman worked a lot on adapting to the new bike, in which he began to familiarize himself with the electronics and the first feedbacks are decidedly positive.
Di Giannantonio does not hide the enthusiasm, impossible to do it when riding a Ducati in MotoGP, especially in light of the great results obtained in 2021. The rookie has completed the two days of testing in which he began to become familiar with his Desmosedici: “I am very happy to have started the second day as we left the first. In the first run I was already fast, I equaled the time of the afternoon before. I am very happy with this because it means that we have already learned something from the first day ”.

“We started to work a little on the electronics, which seems a bit the key in MotoGP and for me it’s all new – he continues Diggia going into the details of the work done – We tried to understand where to improve, where to give more or less power, and all the controls we have. I improved the feeling, but it was a pity that the day was ruined by the wind, the conditions were a bit critical. There is a lot of grip, but also a lot of wind, especially in fast corners, with the wings of the bike it is difficult to control the bike. But overall I’m really very happy, I’m riding a MotoGP! ”.
The Jerez tests reinvigorated the Roman rider, who reveals that he arrived at the last Valencia Grand Prix a bit exhausted: “Honestly, as I arrived in Valencia, I was mentally very tired. But now I don’t want to stop! I have touched the new game and I would like to continue, maybe do more tests or even a race! But it is also right to stop to rest your body and mind a bit and prepare well for the new season. I will certainly have to train a lot, not much more than before, but I will have to do it anyway because MotoGP is tough. But I will certainly be ready! ”.
The new season will therefore see him line up on the starting grid with the Gresini team, which since 2022 has embraced the Ducati project and brought one of the riders he has followed since his first steps onto the track. For this Di Giannantonio is definitely grateful to the team: “The Gresini team is the one who believed in me from the beginning, it gave me the opportunity to get to the world championship, to get great results in Moto3, then in Moto2 and now let me make my debut. in the premier class. It’s something incredible, so I’m very grateful. “
