The events of the August Rebellion demonstration are progressing from the police to prosecution.
Helsinki police have completed a preliminary investigation into a demonstration by the environmental movement Elokapina in the Prime Minister’s Castle area last October.
The protesters posed a security threat aimed at influencing the ongoing session of the Government.
A total of 54 people are suspected of stalking the police. In addition to the stigmatization, 48 people are suspected of violating public peace and obstructing the meeting. A few suspects have criminal offenses of harm. The investigation also includes a couple of drug use offenses.
Elokapina called on the government to declare a climate and environmental emergency in the country and to create binding legislation to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.
The case will move to prosecution today, Wednesday.
