The history of Ousmane Dembélé and FC Barcelona seemed to have its days numbered. The Frenchman’s contract ends in June and he has repeatedly refused to accept the renewal proposals made by the club, considering them insufficient.
His representative Moussa Sissoko informed Barcelona that he had financially superior offers to the azulgrana, and given the player’s refusal to go out in the winter market, many of us think that it was because he already had a pre-agreement signed with another club to join at the end of season. However, the journalist Julien Maynard has surprised by stating that there are still options for Dembélé to renew his contract with Barcelona.
And it is that the French winger has shown on occasion his interest in continuing at Barcelona, despite the fact that his actions show the contrary. Xavi has been full of praise for Dembélé since he took charge of the team and it seems that the Frenchman feels that confidence and is very happy with his coach. The arrival of Xavi would have been key for the Frenchman to decide to renew his contract.
However, the offer made by Barcelona had an expiration date and the player’s agent and the club have not resumed negotiations. It will be necessary to see if those negotiations go back to retake and if the Barcelona does him a new proposal to renew.
