The backstage of the debate was marked by the absence of the provocations that marked the previous debates and a less exalted audience. Only in punctual moments, there was applause and a small provocation among the guests.
Fernando Haddad (PT) was applauded when he accused Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB) of hiding his political godfathers, such as Gilberto Kassab (PSD), the late former mayor Celso Pitta and former governor João Doria (PSDB). On the PT’s team were former minister Marina Silva (Rede), who last week declared support for the candidacy of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), and state deputy Emídio de Souza (PT), who is one of your campaign coordinators. The candidate for vice president Lúcia França (PSB) also accompanied the PT.
The biggest provocation among the candidates’ supporters came from the audience allied with Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB) and Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). “Go back to Rio”, shouted supporters of the governor. In a nod to the female electorate, Garcia appeared supported only by women. Among them are Civil Police Delegate Elizabeth Sato, Economic Development Secretary Zeina Latif, State Attorney General Ines Coimbra and Social Development Secretary Laura Machado.
After one of his supporters, state deputy Douglas Garcia (Republicans), insulted journalist Vera Magalhães in the last debate, Tarcísio led a quieter audience to the event. The vice candidate, Felicio Ramuth, was present. He was also accompanied by campaign advisers. His supporters only applauded Tarcísio after a more heated interaction with Elvis Cezar (PDT).
