The director Hideyuki Shin announced that the team Supertrick Games is working to create a new title that can combine the best elements of Deathverse: Let It Die and the first LET IT DIE. According to what Shin stated in a developer diary:
“We are currently remaking Deathverse and development is progressing well. We are making good progress. In the past we released LET IT DIE and Deathverse. This time we aim to make a game that both LET IT DIE and Deathverse fans will enjoy.”
When asked if this new title will be “a game in between” intended to satisfy fans of one of the two games, Shin responded: “No it is not”.
Shin then added: “To be precise, with Deathverse we created a game focused on player versus player, but there were many things that we felt could be improved. After taking them into consideration we decided to create a game that, like LET IT DIE, has a clear gameplay loop that repeats many times, but which also allows you to fight against other players. We’re trying to take the fun parts of both games to create something new. In short, it will be a roguelike exploration game with co-op and player-versus-player modes. It will take the best parts of LET IT DIE. Indeed, more precisely it will use LET IT DIE as a basis.”
When asked if this means it’s LET IT DIE 2, Shin said no. So LET IT DIE 3?
“If I had to choose, I would say almost”Shin joked. “It’s a 3 or a 4… somewhere around there.”
As for the type of game, Shin confirmed that it is still an action game. A “leaked” (not real) screenshot of the project was also shown.
“I would like viewers to feel that the atmosphere of this screenshot is a little different from that of our previous works”said Shin referring to the dark atmospheres of LET IT DIE and Deathverse: Let It Die.
When asked how much of this new game is LET IT DIE and how much is Deathverse: Let It Die, Shin responded: “As a ratio, I would say 7 to 3? Or 8 to 2? LET IT DIE is the biggest part.”
