The number of fatalities recorded due to the DANA and the floods that affected the province of Valencia has increased to 215, one more than this Monday, with 223 deaths in all of Spain. An autopsy has already been performed on all of these people and they are fully identified. Meanwhile, the missing people currently stand at 17, according to the latest official balance from the Data Integration Center (CID) offered at 8:00 p.m. this Tuesday.
Of the 215 identifications, 167 have been carried out thanks to fingerprint analysis and 45 by DNAwhile three cases correspond to hospital identification while alive. For their part, the offices ante mortem enabled by the National Police and the Civil Guard in collaboration with the forensic doctors, there are 17 active files for disappearance reports.
Both parameters, active disappearances and the total number of fatalities, are different, so “they should not be added in any case.” The files ante mortem of missing persons that are active correspond exclusively to complaints where relatives have provided different information and provided biological samples at police offices that will allow the subsequent identification of their loved ones.
In this way, compared to the balance of the previous day, this Tuesday there is one new fatality recorded, one more autopsy performed, four new identifications of deceased people and six fewer active disappearance reports. Besides, There are currently no bodies pending identificationaccording to the CID.
On the other hand, the morgue set up in Feria Valencia, where all the bodies are taken from the City of Justice of Valencia once the autopsy has been carried out, has delivered the remains of 185 of the deceased identified18 more deliveries than those made until yesterday, Monday at the same time.
The CID is a technical body that is made up of a Forensic Office and an Office of the State Security Forces and Bodies, with specialized agents from the Civil Guard and the National Police. Its main function gather and monitor the different identification reports carried out by the different institutions for people who died in events with multiple victims, by virtue of RD 32/2009.
This center is the only one empowered by that Royal Decree to publicly provide official figures to the medias, through the Communication Office of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, relating to the forensic medical and scientific police treatment of the event.
