From Svenska Teatern, Öhman took over the management of Finlandia Hall in 1983 and continued as the managing director of Tampere Hall in 1988. Öhman retired in 1997.

Carl Öhman was familiar with the cultural field and was outward-looking and active in nature. During his lifetime, he was involved in numerous positions of trust in the cultural sector both in Finland and abroad. His diverse language skills were of particular help here.
After Öhman’s transition from Svenska Teatern to the management of Finlandia Hall, the management and administration of even wider foreign contacts became an increasingly important part of Öhman’s work.
When Tampere Hall started its operations in 1988, we wanted an experienced person with international connections to be its first director. Öhman succeeded in his task: when he retired in 1997, Tampere House had established itself in the Finnish cultural field.

Öhman then admitted that he had not defended his dissertation but only received an honorary doctorate from Michigan.

This is what the working group of the University of Helsinki, which studied the matter for several months, said. Öhman himself denied fraud and denied deliberately falsifying the sources.
As forty years had passed since the approval of the thesis and Öhman had not worked in research since then, the University of Helsinki did not apply for the value of Öhman’s licentiate to be revoked.
