He has left just as quickly as he came. Daniele de Rossi was announced as the club’s new coach by surprise, and has been sacked in the same way. The club from Rome have issued a statement announcing the dismissal of the coach, just four rounds into the Serie A season.
“AS Roma announce that Daniele De Rossi has been relieved of his duties as first team coach.”
“The decision has been taken in the best interest of the team, in order to be able to quickly resume the desired path, at a time when the season is still in its early stages. To Daniele, who will always be at home at the Giallorossi club, a sincere thank you for the work carried out in recent months with passion and dedication,” concludes the club’s statement.
The former Roma player and legend’s time in charge has been rather brief. De Rossi was announced as the team’s manager last January, replacing Jose Mourinho. Shortly after his arrival, the Italian signed a contract renewal until 2027.
So far in the 2024/25 season, De Rossi has managed four games for Roma and has not won any of those four games, drawing three and losing one, which puts the team in 16th place in Serie A with 3 points.
Last season, the Italian was in charge of the team for 26 games, in all competitions, with a record of 13 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses, leaving the team in 6th position in the Italian championship table.
