Pau Cubarsí, Barcelona defender, has been called up by Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente after Pau Torres’ muscle injury, for Spain’s final matches in the group stage of the Nations League against Denmark and Switzerland.
De la Fuente ruled out Cubarsí in the November call-up due to the facial injury that caused him to receive nine stitches on his chin. After seeing how the young centre-back was able to play with Barcelona in LaLiga, with a mask as protection at the Reale Arena against Real Sociedad, he was chosen after Pau Torres’ muscle injury was confirmed this Wednesday.
Change of plans
De la Fuente had ruled out the Blaugrana due to his facial injury but after playing against Real Sociedad he called him up.
Cubarsí will join the Spanish team’s concentration in Ciudad del Fútbol on Wednesday afternoon and on Thursday he will be one more in the last training session in Las Rozas before traveling to Copenhagen, where Spain will face Denmark on Friday.
