Brazil registered 54 new deaths by covid-19 this Sunday, 19. The weekly average of victims, which eliminates distortions between weekdays and weekends, was 128, down from 200 for the 16th consecutive day, but influenced by the hacker attack on Ministry of Health systems. Due to instability in the platforms of the federal government, five States and the Federal District did not release data relating to the last 24 hours of the pandemic in Brazil.
The number of new infections reported was 1,313, while the moving average of positive tests over the past seven days is 3,397. In total, Brazil has 617,838 deaths and 22,211,128 cases of the disease. The daily data from Brazil are from the consortium of press vehicles formed by state, G1, O Globo, Extra, Folha and UOL in partnership with 27 state health secretariats, in a balance released at 8 pm. According to government figures, 21,470,339 people have recovered from the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, with data up to last Friday, 17th.
São Paulo registered six new victims of covid in the last 24 hours. In addition to the Federal District, five states did not release the day’s data: Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Tocantins. Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Amapá, Ceará, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Roraima and Sergipe have not registered any deaths from coronaviruses this Sunday.
The balance of deaths and cases is the result of a partnership between the six media that started working, since June 8th of last year, in a collaborative way to gather the necessary information in the 26 states and the Federal District. The unprecedented initiative is a response to the Bolsonaro government’s decision to restrict access to data on the pandemic, but was maintained after government records continued to be released.
Until last Friday, the Ministry of Health accounted for 22,209,020 people infected and 617,601 deaths from the coronavirus.
