D.he Corona incidence has fallen somewhat in Frankfurt, but remains at a record level. After 679.1 on Tuesday, the Robert Koch Institute now reports the value 666.5 on its website, which is the second-highest index for the Main metropolis to date. In Darmstadt and Wiesbaden, on the other hand, the seven-day incidence rose sharply, to almost 575 in the southern Hessian city and just under 580 in the state capital. The incidence reflects the new cases among 100,000 inhabitants recorded within a week.
From this Wednesday on, the Darmstadt-Dieburg district will also be one of the hotspots with corresponding protective rules such as mask compulsory in particularly busy places and a ban on alcohol in public. Hotspots are already the district of Fulda, the Hochtaunus district, the district of Offenbach, the city of Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Offenbach and Wiesbaden.
6660 new corona cases in Hesse
As can be read on the RKI page, the Hessian health authorities reported 6660 new cases overnight after 4782 a week ago. The Hessen incidence has risen from 252 to almost 418 since then; it is now slightly above the federal average. Twelve more deaths related to Covid-19 have officially been recorded, as many as registered a week ago.
According to the German Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 217 corona patients are in Hessian intensive care units. 129 of them therefore have to be ventilated invasively. The day before, the Ministry of Social Affairs had spoken of 247 patients and 615 in normal wards. The country usually has more patients than the Divi, which is justified with a different counting method.
Most recently, almost two thirds of the corona patients in intensive care units were not or not fully vaccinated, a good 28 percent were vaccinated. For the rest, the vaccination status is unknown. Almost 71 percent of the Hessian population are fully vaccinated. However, the vaccination quota is only making slow progress.
