The French Football Federation (FFF) decided to remove the coach of the women’s national team, Corinne Diacre, from office on the recommendation of the Executive Committee. The team, one of the powers of women’s soccer worldwide, is left without a leader a few months after the World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.
The clashes between the players and their coach ended up being irreconcilable. The coach of the French women’s soccer team, Corinne Diacre, was dismissed from her position on Thursday, March 9.
“Although the FFF recognizes the involvement and seriousness of Corinne Diacre and its staff in the exercise of their mission, it seems that the dysfunctions observed are, in this context, irreversible,” the French Football Federation said in a statement.
Le COMEX de la FFF a reçu les conclusions de la commission missionnée par Philippe Diallo pour dresser un constat sur la situación de l’Équipe de France Féminine.

On Wednesday, Diacre had claimed he was the target of a “smear campaign” shortly before the 2023 World Cup.
“My detractors have not hesitated to attack my personal and professional integrity, without bothering with the truth, four months before the World Cup,” he said.
The fights with the players of the selection
Some statements that came after the former team captain, Wendie Renard, pointed out that she was not going to play the tournament if the coach remained in office, as revealed by multiple leaks.
Renard was stripped of the French captaincy by Diacre after the team’s elimination in the quarterfinals at Euro 2017, one that he carried again in 2021.
Other colleagues joined this announcement, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani, who said they would step back.
France, one of the global soccer powers, is left without a coach a few months before the World Cup. A tournament that will take place in New Zealand and Australia from July 20 to August 20.
Who is Corinne Diacre?
Diacre’s career has been extensive both on the bench and on the pitch.
As a player, she made it to the women’s team when she was only 18 years old, shortly after receiving the captain’s armband. Diacre retired at age 31 after having a successful career as a defenseman.
Diacre’s career marked a milestone. She was the first woman to lead a Ligue 2 soccer team, Clermont.
In 2017 was appointed technical director from France. Two years later, he led the squad during the 2019 World Cup that was taking place in French territory. He failed to give the country the joy of reaching the final instances.
