Black Friday is coming and with it several stores promise incredible promotions and exclusive discounts.
The official date takes place next Friday (26), but some companies are already taking actions in the networks and physical stores and it is necessary to redouble attention not to fall into financial and virtual scams or the false discounts offered.

Be careful when buying
1 – Fake pages
One of the most common scams in online shopping is phishing, which consists in stealing your data through a fake offer, which often uses a page layout very similar to that of large magazines.
Therefore, the lawyer specializing in consumer law Marcela Cavallo indicates that consumers do not believe in links they receive via social networks and check the promotion directly on the site.
“Always check the promotion directly on the store’s or brand’s website, don’t just believe in what you receive through stories, sponsored posts or groups. Look for this promotion in environments that you know will be safe”, he warns.
2 – Are discounts really real?
Some large stores have been notified by Procon in previous years for raising the price of a certain product to return to the normal price during Black Friday. However, there are mechanisms on the internet to find out if the discounts offered on Black Friday are real or if they are “half double”.
Sites like zoom or the Buscapé they are able to carry out the search for the price of a product in a period of up to six months. Another tip is to always have a list of what to buy in advance to conduct research throughout the year.
3 – Be wary of big discounts
At this time there are really big discounts in retail stores for many products, but be wary of opportunities too good to be true. This is often where fraudsters manage to steal your data with fake offers. It can also happen that someone publishes that promotion on the website with the wrong price and, in that case, the store has no obligation to sell the product.
Marketplaces
4 – Pay attention to delivery
Many large retailers sell in partnership with smaller merchants through their websites and apps. In this case, the responsibility for delivery, as well as the deadline, is the seller and not the chain. Always be aware of the information on who is selling and delivering that product.
5 – International purchases
Many sites that operate in the country, such as Amazon, Americanas and Mercado Livre, sell products that are not sold in Brazil and will need to come from abroad. Keep an eye on this information because delivery times are usually longer.
6 – Counterfeit products
Shopee and Mercado Livre were recently fined by the Internal Revenue Service and by Procon for selling counterfeit products not approved by Anatel. Make sure the store you are buying from is reputable.
7 – See the users rating
All large retailers that act as marketplaces have a store evaluation policy made by the users themselves. Don’t buy before checking the reputation of where you are going to buy.

8 – Pix
PIX, an instant payment method, completed one year this Tuesday (16) and has been conquering consumers and retailers. However, it is necessary to be extra careful not to transfer to scammers.
The retail specialist and director of the product and marketing area at Betalabs, Luan Gabellini says that it is necessary to carefully check all the merchant’s information before confirming the transfer.
“It’s much more complicated to get this money back than on your credit card, which you have insurance on. At PIX, you are responsible for that operation”, he pointed out.
This Tuesday, the Central Bank announced the creation of the Special Return Mechanism, which aims to combat fraud and streamline this return of money to the consumer.
9 – Billet
If you prefer to pay via bank slip, you must pay attention to the numerical information in the document. Check that the first digits are from the bank code and that the last are the correct purchase amount.
Also, read all the information carefully and, if you suspect something, do not pay and contact your bank.
10 – Credit Card
In addition to a purchase that you did not make to be approved on your card, another fear is having your data leaked on the internet. For this, experts point out that having a virtual card can be a way out.
Several banks rely on this technology, which generates a card number for that purchase and then can be deleted.
11 – Care in physical stores
For those who are going to leave home and take advantage of the offers at physical stores, in addition to sanitary care such as using a mask, hand hygiene and maintaining social distance, some practical tips can help you not have problems when shopping.
Technology professor at Universidade São Judas Roberto Kalili points out that if you are not going to make payments with the PIX, delete your bank’s application before leaving home.
Another tip is to ask to disable the payment by approximation option, as one of the scams applied is when the fraudster approaches the machine to your card with an amount that does not require your password.
Rights when changing
12 – Physical store
In purchases made in the physical store, the consumer has the right to exchange the guaranteed merchandise only in case of defect. On occasions that involve regret, most stores end up switching to maintain a positive relationship with the customer, but she doesn’t have to.
13 – Online store
In purchases made virtually, there is a right of regret in which the consumer can exchange the product or ask for money back for any reason within the first 7 days the product reached him.
14 – Delivery delay
Several stores are promising ever faster deliveries to consumers who buy online. But it’s good to keep an eye on your rights if this deadline is missed.
According to the Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection (IDEC), the buyer can try to reach an amicable agreement with the retailer or ask for their money back if the purchase does not arrive within the period. If the product he purchased is no longer available, a third option is to accept an exchange for an equivalent product.
