• Corn threshing in northern Sinaloa shows an estimated progress of 90% of the sown area, expecting that in the coming weeks the harvest of this crop will be definitively completed. Likewise, we invite all producers to continue joining the “No Quema de Soca” campaign, thereby avoiding affectations such as compaction and loss of soil moisture, reduction of organic matter, among others, and take advantage of the great benefits in the medium and long term by incorporating soca into the soil. In Sinaloa, stubble is worth it!
• The international corn market this week closed with gains, due to the hot and dry weather in the US, in addition to the destruction of crops in Ukraine by Russian aviation and the demand for corn within the US. Adding to this, the strength of the dollar makes prices present resistance. The crop condition report published by the USDA on June 12 showed an advance in planting of 97 percent and a good/excellent condition of 72% vs. 68% of the average of the last 5 years. The current price for the future Sinaloa harvest July/22, plus bases (49 dollars), is $357.84 dollars/ton.
• The wheat market this week closed with losses, due to the advance of the harvest in the US and the sowing of spring wheat. The crop condition report, published by the USDA on June 12, showed a harvest advance of 10% for winter wheat and a good/excellent condition of 31% vs. 48% of the average of the last 5 years. For spring wheat, sowing progress of 94% and a good/excellent condition of 54% were reported. The current price for the future Sinaloa harvest July/22, plus bases (35 dollars), is $415.02 dollars/ton.
• The bean market in the state of Sinaloa shows no changes, prices consolidate at the same levels seen in recent weeks. With data from the Grupo Consultores de Mercados Agrícolas (GCMA), it is estimated that in the state there are inventories of 30 to 40 thousand tons and for the spring-summer 2022 cycle the planting intention could be impacted due to the high cost of fertilizers and the concern about the likely prolongation of the drought. Likewise, regarding the national market, the GCMA reports an annual increase of 6% in exports from January-May and imports decrease by 78.3% due to high prices. With data reported by the National Market Information and Integration System (SNIIM), of the Mexican Ministry of Economy, the price quoted for this week in the main supply centers was $27.00/kg. in Guadalajara and $29.00/kg. in CDMX Iztapalapa.
