Comedian Javier Guzman will record a provisional version of his New Year’s Eve conference tomorrow evening. The comedian does this in connection with the threatening new corona measures that the outgoing cabinet is talking about on Friday. Comedy Central, which airs the show on December 29, has announced this today.
Guzman was forced to play his New Year’s Eve conference without an audience last year. “Cabaret is really an art form where interaction is important,” said a spokesperson. “He wants to prevent that this year.” Guzman will play the show on Friday evening at Theater Diligentia in The Hague. There are still a few cards left.
Comedians Peter Pannekoek and Najib Amhali, who provide the New Year’s Eve conferences for the NPO and SBS, informed the ANP that they would first wait for the press conference on Friday before investigating alternative scenarios for the broadcast. Comedian Guido Weijers previously announced that he was canceling his year-end show for RTL, because he had had enough of all the uncertainty surrounding the theaters.
In 2020, BNNVARA broadcast a three-week old recording of Youp van ‘t Hek’s New Year’s Eve conference, because all theaters were forced to close on New Year’s Eve. Guido Weijers did play the performance live, for his own employees.
