There are thousands of families trying to seek refuge in the metro systems of major cities, making long lines of cars trying to evacuate and trying to leave the main cities of the country.
That is not the case of Natalia Gaviria, a 23-year-old from Cali who lives in Ukraine, precisely in its capital, Kiev.

If I were to see something serious, I would think of resorting to another country
The young woman surprised the panel of the ‘Blu Radio’ station, as she calmly assured that for now He has no intention of leaving the country, which is being invaded and bombed by Russian soldiers.
“We wake up with alarms. Our Ukrainian friends explained to us that those alarms had not sounded for a long time. (…) Activities were suspended, for example, at my work they wrote to me that I should preferably not go out, that I should stay at home”, were his words in the interview.

He assures that in the area where he lives there is a lot of traffic and sometimes ambulances are heard. In addition, there are many people in the streets and, in his opinion, it is not normal in this winter season. Still, he asserted that the situation in the sector in which it is located is normal and that there is no army or armed conflicts.
Why wouldn’t he leave the Ukraine?
Gaviria, who works at a digital marketing company, and her husband have a stable life in Kiev, as they both have jobs.
As he told the aforementioned station, Going back to Colombia is not in his plans because he would come looking for work now “start from scratch“. In addition, he stressed that the country is not going through the best of times.
Of course, she said that the Colombian Embassy in Poland contacted her to provide her with information and help, in case she decides to leave the country, which she does not want for now.
“If I see something serious, I would go to another country. (…) At the moment, according to the information I have, the flights are still authorized and if they are canceled it would be by land”, he explained.

As the announcers were impressed by the calm with which the invasion was taken, they reported that they were carrying out clashes in the north of the city. Recall that the Russian forces managed to enter Kiev since this Friday morning.
