The future of the Colombian National Team, thinking about the 2022 Qatar World Cup, is uncertain. There are two dates left to finish the tie and the outlook is complicated, since the team led by Reinaldo Rueda depends on other results.
Colombia is seventh in the qualifying table, with just 17 points, and is five away from the last direct quota, which Uruguay has today, and four away from the possible playoff, which Peru would go to today.

The Federation’s plan for the September Fifa date
However, in the Colombian Football Federation, it seems, they would already be thinking of friendly matches in the period between the end of the tie and the start of the World Cup.
The journalist Carlos Antonio Vélez revealed, in the Planeta Fútbol program, on Antena 2, that Colombia would have a friendly match against Brazil, on the Fifa date in September.
The game, which would be played in the United States, would be scheduled between September 19 and 27, which is the day determined by Fifa for the preparation matches that month.

Who will lead the National Team in that match? According to Vélez, if Colombia qualifies, Rueda will be there, but if he doesn’t, the option that could be managed is for a coaching staff to take over while the new visible head of the team is appointed.
