It’s a tuesday style Coldplay. An army of fans singing their songs, fireworks and a colorfully lit stadium. There are more than 30,000 people who arrive at the Nacional two hours away from seeing the British band that came to offer 120 concerts on a tour. The public has queued for hours, even days, but no one seems to complain when they reach a place on the field, where, although it is not a soccer game, Peruvian flags can be seen.
The Coldplay concert is intended to be enjoyed from the stands. Each fan received a led bracelet and the play of lights makes it one of the best staging in the world. On the led screens they announce an exclusive APP and a kinetic dance floor: “We need 100 volunteers to charge the floors and the energy bicycles”. And energy is what characterizes the band.
When Chris MartinJon Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion decided to stop touring around the world in 2019, they said they would seek to work for the environment. So a cable is extended on the ground of the field to collect the energy of the public.
At 7:30 p.m., with the talent and skill of the Peruvian singer-songwriter Andrea Martínez, the public already turned on the lights of their cell phones as a prelude.
The sides near the huge catwalk were already taken over by the public that camped for a week.
Camila Cabello appears with the hit ‘Señorita’ and the groups of teenagers are the first to go to the catwalk that at this point seems unattainable.
The singer and actress not only has a great voice, but she dominates the scene as the complete artist. she is and remembers her Latin roots. “I am a proud Cuban, Mexican,” she says.
At the close of this edition, the band is projected on the led screens greeting their fans in the front row. Chris Martin sings ‘Higher power’ and fireworks go off. With ‘Adventure of a lifetime’, colored paper and huge beach balls fall onto the field. With only two songs, he already has the National Stadium and his guests involved in a party. “Grateful that they are here, despite COVID-19, traffic and corruption. But we are here to sing and dance”, says Chris Martin loudly.
