The former mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, has said goodbye this Saturday from his position coordinator of Catalunya en Comú in the IV Assembly of training, in a speech in which he stated that the Comuns proposal has to “reconnect” with citizens. For her part, the coordinator of the Comuns and vice president of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Candela López will leave her seat in Congress of the Deputies to focus on his work in coordinating the party.
“Those who do not want to give up their privileges are the ones who want us powerless,” Colau warned in his speech at the presentation of the management report, in which he said verbatim that the Comuns They have to generate dreams and hopes that overcome impotence.
For Colau, the Comuns have to establish themselves as hope in the face of anguish which, according to her, generates the escalation of war and the advance of the extreme right throughout the world, and to fight against “those who do not want to give up their privileges.”
Against “sad passions”
He has assured that one of the reasons for being of the Comuns is “challenge sad passionsresignation and helplessness” and that the space must work to strengthen social movements, unions and the associative and neighborhood fabric.
He has also said that Catalunya en Comú must aspire to “recover the votes to combat the greedy local and global elites who want to accumulate all the wealth at the expense of impoverishing the majority of the population.
“Democracy is greatly threatened by the great oligarchies, the great elites who want more and more at the expense of whatever it takes, of increasing social inequality and impoverishing the planet,” Colau warned. In this sense, he has urged Catalonia in Common to combat resignation and reinforce the municipalist character of the party to “make citizens fall in love with politics again” and to fight, literally, against greedy neoliberalism.
Relations with Israel
In his speech, Colau assured that the Comuns are pressing to stop the genocide in Palestineand has asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezand that of the Generalitat, Salvador Illawho break relations with Israel.
