“Cardiovascular diseases, unfortunately, are currently the leading cause of death. In this field, our commitment is focused on two main fronts. On the one hand, clinical research aimed at controlling risk factors that significantly impact the possibility of developing cardiovascular diseases, such as cholesterol. On the other hand, the promotion of campaigns that can reveal risk factors in the general population, but also help those who have already had a cardiovascular event to keep themselves under control and, above all, to improve adherence to treatments to prevent further events”. This was stated by Paola Coco, medical director of Novartis Italia, speaking this morning in Milan at the event for the launch of the campaign ‘Da quore a cuore’, promoted by the company with the patronage of the Italian Association of Heart Failure Patients (Aisc) and the Italian Heart Foundation (Fipc).
“‘From heart to heart’ – continues Coco – wants to be a campaign that helps the general population to measure cholesterol and undergo visits that allow them to identify cardiovascular risk factors”, but it is also aimed at “patients who have already had cardiovascular events, so as to understand what the residual risk is to avoid the repetition of similar events and, therefore, the heart stopping beating too soon”.
