Mexico City.- The CMR corporation denied that the Yunes family of politicians is part of its shareholders, after messages circulated on social networks on Saturday afternoon that indicated alleged links between both parties.
In a statement, the company said that “it is false that the Yunes family is our shareholder” and clarified that it is committed to acting with integrity.
“CMR, a Mexican company founded in 1965 by Joaquín Vargas Gómez, has established itself as a benchmark in the Mexican market after almost 60 years thanks to the solid values that have guided our steps, which is why we are committed to acting with integrity,” the company said. It also emphasized that it distances itself from “any position, accusation or inclination in the social and political sphere.”
CMR is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CMRB and serves more than 240 restaurants in Mexico and 5 other countries, with a portfolio of 14 brands, including Chilli’s, Wings, Sushiitto and Olive Garden.
On Tuesday, PAN senators Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez and his father Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares (alternate in the position) announced their support for the judicial reform of the 4T, with which the ruling bloc obtained the qualified majority to support the initiative backed by President López Obrador.
