Two years after the last time, fifty non-military people accompany 96 soldiers at the Marine Infantry School
Civilians return to swear the flag with the military in Cartagena. Fifty did so yesterday along with 96 aspiring professional soldiers who are taking the course for access to the Troop Scale of the Marine Corps of the Navy, corresponding to the first cycle of 2022. The act took place at the Marine Corps School General Albacete and Fuster (Eimgaf), on the Tentegorra road, where the students entered on May 23.
The ceremony was presided over by Admiral Director of Naval Education, Rear Admiral from Cartagena Alfonso Delgado Moreno. And the person in charge of taking the oath or promise to the new soldiers was the commander-director of the Eimgaf, Colonel Fernando Díaz García. Next, the new soldiers kissed the flag and paraded before the large audience made up of family and friends. The act took place under a sun made even hotter by the high humidity.
After two years without the participation of civilians in this type of act due to the pandemic, fifty people who do not belong to the Armed Forces and who requested it at the Defense Delegation took an oath or promise before the Spanish flag. Among them, the president of the Cartagena Port Authority, Yolanda Muñoz, and the chief commissioner of the Fuente Álamo Local Police, Francisco Javier Martínez, who renewed his commitment to Spain.
After the oath, the soldiers will continue their military training at the Eimgaf until March 3, 2023. This educational center has the task of training all members of the Marine Corps. It is considered the continuation of the General Central Academy of Marine Infantry, created in the last third of the 19th century and whose first commander-director was Joaquín Albacete y Fuster.
The School trains its students in those values that have always distinguished the members of the Corps, as well as in the necessary knowledge so that they can carry out the tasks assigned to them with total efficiency.
