It is located in the Sierra de Ascoy, providing an aerial view of the entire environment
The City Council of Cieza has inaugurated a new viewpoint so that residents and visitors can observe the spectacle of the flowering of the stone fruit trees. On this occasion, the enclave is located at the top of the Ascoy mountain range, next to the communications center, which provides a practically aerial view of a good part of the orchard and fields, but also of such emblematic places as the Canyon de los Almadenes, el Almorchón, the Sierra de la Atalaya and the city of Cieza itself.
This new viewpoint joins others that the Consistory has set up in recent years in the places of El Horno or La Macetúa, where hundreds of tourists come annually. The Councilor for Tourism, Antonio Moya, indicated that the City Council’s commitment is “to show the flowering from where it is best seen”, and in this case “it represents an unprecedented aerial view, since it is a very little visited place” .
The councilor announced that starting next week “an exclusive route will be established in this area in which participants will also be able to visit the Los Grajos ravine, where the Neolithic cave paintings declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco” . The different acts that the City Council of Cieza has prepared for this year’s flowering will begin on the 18th, when the Almudí Palace in Murcia will be presented to society. From that moment on, there will be guided tours of the fields, events related to gastronomy, as well as musical and cultural concerts for all audiences.
Likewise, the start-up of a tourist train is planned that will visit the most beautiful places, such as the Casas del Horno or the Soto de la Zarzuela, combined with equestrian routes.
