Christopher Ayres, English voice actor of Freeza in Dragon Ball, he died at the age of 56 on 18 October, with the proximity of the mother, brother and girlfriend, who broke the news through Twitter. At the moment, the cause of death has not yet been disclosed, despite the fact that the voice actor had suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for many years.
The voice actor, famous for many characters, is well known in America for the role of Freeza, one of the main antagonists within Dragon Ball Z, resuming his role also in subsequent series. His work led him to dub the famous alien also in video games, lending his talent even for a commercial concerning Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
In 2018 he had to give up reprising the role due to a double lung transplant caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, an illness that kept him away from microphones for a few months. On Twitter he kept informing his fans about his recovery, through constant posts and photographs.
The grief for his loss it came from so many of his colleagues on the series, including Christopher Sabat, Vegeta’s voice actor, Vic Mignogna, Broly’s voice actor in Dragon Ball Z, and many others. A special greeting also came directly from Toei Animation, the studio that produced the world famous series.
