Christian Herrgott prevailed in the runoff election as the new district administrator of the Saale-Orla district against the AfD candidate. The conservative CDU politician from Thuringia stands for balance and reliability.
NNothing is already set in stone in this election year, as shown by the election of Christian Herrgott as the new district administrator of the Saale-Orla district in eastern Thuringia. The CDU politician won 52.4 percent of the votes in the runoff election on Sunday, defeating Uwe Thrum from the AfD in the final stages, who had been ahead in the first round. Both politicians come from Schleiz, the district capital of the district, which is characterized by villages and small towns and has around 80,000 inhabitants.
Herrgott was born here in 1984 and, after graduating from high school and doing military service, pursued a career as an officer and completed a degree in political science at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. He has been working in the district office in Schleiz for a good ten years, most recently as a representative of his predecessor from the CDU, who no longer ran for office due to age.
