CNSA: Chinese probe successfully landed on the far side of the Moon
The landing module of the Chinese probe successfully landed on the far side of the Moon, from where it should deliver soil samples to Earth. The agency informs about this Xinhua citing the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
“The combination landing and takeoff modules of China’s Chang’e-6 probe successfully landed at the pre-selected landing zone located in the South Pole-Aitken basin,” the statement said.
Earlier it was reported that Chinese experts recognized the successful launch of the Chang’e-6 mission, within which they plan to collect soil samples from the far side of the Moon for the first time in history and deliver them to Earth.
In early May, the Long March-5 Y8 rocket with the Chang’e-6 C lunar automatic interplanetary station launched from the Wenchang Cosmodrome on Hainan Island in China. The mission’s goal was to deliver up to two kilograms of regolith samples.
In January, the Chinese Kuaizhou-1A solid-fuel three-stage rocket successfully launched the Tianxing-1 02 Star satellite intended for space exploration and experimentation into low-Earth orbit.
