Chile registered this Saturday (23), for the second consecutive day, more than 2,000 new cases of Covid-19. This number has not occurred since mid-July.

There were 2,056 positive diagnoses in the last 24 hours. The Ministry of Health reported that the number of newly infected increased by 35% in the last seven days and 80% compared to 14 days.

Three weeks ago, coinciding with the lifting of restrictions in the country, the pandemic, which had been under control since August, began to advance.

The worsening, however, is not reflected in the number of deaths caused by the disease. There were 11 this Saturday (23), according to the bulletin.

Chile has implemented one of the most successful vaccination strategies in the world. The country has already reached 89.4% of the target population with full immunization, mainly with the CoronaVac vaccine, but also with Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca and CanSino.
