Children of the Sun is one of the latest Devolver Digital indies to hit the market and there was doubt that it wasn't succeeding. Now, however, the publisher has said that Children of the Sun has exceeded expectations and is on the path to success.
It all started from a discussion started on Twitter, where Lewis Burnell of ICO Partners – PR company – said that the game was probably selling below expectations. “Children of the Sun has received enormous media coverage and outstanding reviews. On release day yesterday, it reached a peak of 208 players, meaning it will likely sell around 5,000 units in the next seven days. Undoubtedly below of Devolver's expectations.” Burnell wrote.
However, Devoler responded by stating: “Thank you for your interest. The game has already exceeded expectations for the first week and is on track for success. We are very pleased with the reception and the collaboration with individual developers on small projects is fundamental to our label.”
If you prefer a shorter explanation: “This stuff is cool” Devolver Digital says in a second tweet.
Of course, all of this doesn't mean that Devolver Digital is claiming that Childern of the Sun sold “a lot,” but that the sales obtained are not considered inadequate by the publisher.

If you don't know whether to buy the gameyou can read our review of Children of the Sun to make up your mind.
We explain to you that “He manages to capture, in some way, in his darkness, in his immeasurable cruelty, the vengeful journey of the young girl who lost everything due to broken promises. This trajectory of death feels like the conductor of a macabre ballad.”
