United States.- The Chicago Police Department released a video last Tuesday showing how an officer shoots a man who was running towards him with an ax in the hand.
The officer of a suburb of Chicago fired several shots at a man who allegedly tried to attack him with an ax while he was making a traffic stop.
Naperville, Illinois police said they were conducting a traffic stop for a minor infraction at approximately 11:00 a.m. on June 3 with a driver who was stopped on the side of the road.
It was then that the subject suddenly stopped in the middle of the roadas featured in the video that was released by the Naperville Police Department.
“Who are you, buddy?” the officer can be heard saying in the video as the suspect begins to get out of his car. and then he runs straight to the officer who wields an ax.
At that moment the officer fires his weapon several times and the man falls. The officer radios him and states that he was attacked and tells the suspect not to move as he points his gun at him.
The officer tries to catch his breath as he stops to the subject identified as Edward “C” 28-year-old who was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Neither the officer nor bystanders were injured during the attack, Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said, adding that any loss of life is tragic and he apologized to the suspect’s family.
