The production by Teatro Silfo and ‘Los musicians de Bremen’, by Nacho Vilar Producciones, were the big winners, with seven awards in total
‘Chatungla. A junk jungle ‘, she was the winner of the 5th Azahar Awards, which are awarded by the MurciaAEscena association and which recognize the work of performing arts professionals in the Region of Murcia, with four awards. This was announced yesterday at a gala held at the New Circus Theater in Cartagena and conducted by Esther Hidalgo. Teatro Silfo’s show for early childhood, “a unique zoo made up of peculiar creatures, each with its own history and style, but all of them born from some object, pot or material recovered or found who knows where”, was chosen as Best Show of Theater and Best Children’s Show. In addition, the actress Bárbara Vargas, who shares the stage with Sara Sáez –and with that series of puppets ready to be exhibited– won the award for Best Leading Actress. Fabrizio Azara won the highest recognition in the category of Best Scenography.
‘The Bremen Musicians’, by Nacho Vilar Producciones, was chosen as Best Musical Show, while Toñi Olmedo, who plays the character of Ladrona, won the award for Best Supporting Actress in this production that covers the famous story of the Brothers Grimm. The third of the awards for this proposal went to Belter Souls, for Best Original Music.
The awards did not end here for Nacho Vilar Producciones, as the producer and distributor won the award for Best Company and another of his productions, ‘Pedro Cano, pinta el viaje’, was doubly recognized as Sergio Alarcón won the award for Best Actor protagonist for giving life to the painter of Blanca Pedro Cano and David Terol won the Best Sound Space. In addition, Nacho Vilar called for a performing arts law and more support for this professional group.

Recognition to La Murga
‘Woman you had to be! (a history of Spanish theater with a woman’s name)’ by Yampo Teatro, won two awards: Best Stage Direction, to Rocío Carrasco Chicano, and Best Lighting, which went to Jesús Palazón.
Salvador Riquelme, with his interpretation of the characters Amigo 1 and Amigo 2 in ‘Torres’, by Teatro de la Delivery, won the award for Best Supporting Actor. The award for Best Dramaturgy was awarded to Marina A. Cabañero for her work in ‘Bernarda Alba, el musical’, a version of Federico García Lorca’s classic by the company Agosto del 36. As for Best Costume, the award went to Paco Beltrán for ‘Malnacido’ by Los Menos. This V edition of the Azahar Awards wanted to recognize the Cartagena company La Murga with a special award, for its 40th anniversary, to which happy birthday was sung, and gave its honor award to Titeremurcia, the International Puppet Festival of the Region, which will celebrate its 21st edition from December 4 to 13.
