A prestigious stage to conquer international markets, but also an opportunity to test yourself and validate your business idea. The national research body Area Science Park thus returned to CES in Las Vegas in 2024 – the largest and most important technology industry fair in the world to be held from 9 to 12 January – accompanying the 50 Italian startups gathered in the pavilion organized by Agenzia Ice, inside Eureka Park, the Ces exhibition area dedicated to 'bottom-up' innovation.
“Area Science Park has been active for years in supporting the internationalization of innovative Italian companies, but the evolution of recent years is important” explains Fabrizio Rovatti, technologist manager of Area Science Park. “Our institution – he adds – is by definition a reality that creates synergies between technological research and the markets, which means, especially with regards to deep tech, also looking abroad”.
“Bringing technology-based startups into contexts like Ces means allowing them not only to come into contact with potential industrial partners and research centers among the most important on the world scene, but also to have concrete and direct feedback from the market, having the possibility of comparing oneself with other companies and startups active in the same sectors. In these contexts today we no longer just look for investments, but to build partnerships and research and co-innovation projects” Rovatti also underlines.
And this year too, as in previous participations (the first in 2018), Area Science Park organized an academy dedicated to the pavilion's startups which, through a series of training meetings with industry experts, were able to best prepare for the experience in Las Vegas: from indications on how to create the perfect pitch, to training on how to approach technological and industrial partners and the media present at the fair, with the aim of maximizing business opportunities and visibility.
At Ces the organization is also the protagonist of one of the thematic panels – on deep tech innovation – held in the arena set up inside the pavilion, in which in-depth meetings alternate with national and international stakeholders from the world of innovation, pitches by Italian startups and presentations by some of the most interesting innovative companies present in the pavilions of the other countries present in Eureka Park.
Finally, the research body recalls that the mission of the Area Science Park at the Ces in Las Vegas is part of a strategy to support innovative high-tech companies which brings together the consolidation of a national ecosystem of open innovation and the activity of generating research and business opportunities at an international level, particularly the American one.
