During the technology fair CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2024which runs until January 12th in Las Vegas (USA), the Mercedes-Benz showcased a new virtual assistant that can carry out dialogues with users using artificial intelligence.
“The car is your dialogue partner. You can ask questions, talk, be productive,” said Mercedes technology director Markus Schaefer at a press roundtable in Las Vegas.

With the hardware in electric vehicles less complex and variable than that in combustion cars, automakers are looking to stand out through their software offerings.
Voice assistant technology in cars is becoming increasingly sophisticated, using everything from personalized avatars to generative artificial intelligence technology.
Mercedes-Benz said an additional feature of its new voice assistant is a plausibility check of the responses it provides. The assistant will check recommendations against cloud data and customer reports to find out, for example, when a recommended store or restaurant has closed.
“We feel like we have an obligation to put something in the car that you can trust the information in,” Schaefer said.
