The employers will make a counteroffer to the Ministry of Labor at this afternoon’s meeting. Despite the fact that the options of reaching an agreement are practically nil, the CEOE leadership has decided this Wednesday to propose an increase in the SMI of 3% (34 euros) that It would take it up to 1,168 gross euros in 14 payments linked to two conditions: reform the deindexation law that prevents companies that have contracts with the public sector from being able to pass on costs and subsidize farm contributions, as it is the sector most affected by increases in labor costs.
Sources from the organization confirm that the businessmen have chosen to repeat the strategy used in the last negotiation and propose an increase in accordance with what was signed with CCOO and UGT in the last Agreement for Employment and Collective Bargaining (AENC) in which a 3% increase was included, expandable by another percentage point if the average CPI for the year exceeded this figure. The employers consider that this is the “consistent” position with what was negotiated with the workers’ representatives, who, ignoring this agreement, are demanding increases of between 5% and 6%.
