The slogan is “every match must be a party”. And the full blows at the stadium recall those of the eight seasons in A
The great fear has given way to an enthusiasm that has Serie A colors and numbers. The new Catania is a constant sold out club. Also this afternoon, on the occasion of the home match with Locri (won 2-0), the Massimino stadium (which for now has a capacity of 16,700 seats out of the 20,800 available) registered a full house. Not the only one: the home matches have attracted at least 15 thousand people to the stadium against the championship with San Luca, Vibonese, Castrovillari. For Serie D these are disproportionate figures, which recall the eight seasons lived up to 2014 by the old club in Serie A. For example for one of the last showcase events, a Catania-Juventus on 23 March 2014, where subscribers and paying there were 22 thousand people. Not even a free seat, but there was Juve and it was Serie A.
RECORD
–
The Catania Ssd, a company founded by the Sicilian Australian entrepreneur Ross Pelligra on the ashes of Calcio Catania 1946, immediately relaunched strongly in a city that from April 9 – the day of the bankruptcy decreed by the court – at the beginning of July, was terrified of not starting over or having to survive with modest or short-term projects. The very solid economic foundations of Pelligra, the fast and furious organization of the season, the careful and expensive purchasing campaign, the football tradition in a city full of problems convinced almost 12,000 people to subscribe. The Serie D record was established in the past by Bari and Palermo. Catania went over 11 thousand, establishing an absolute record.
ENTHUSIASM
–
“Every game must be a party” is the slogan of Pelligra who often shuttles from Australia to the city of the Elephant to gather a full of enthusiasm. And at the end of each home game, the whole stadium is waiting for the players to cheer. Scenes that last well beyond 30 minutes as evidence of a happiness found after the years of disappointments, defeats and management entrusted to the Court. Outside the home the same thing happens: sold out. In Ragusa they have made available 1200 tickets for guests. All purchased. Another thousand in Licata: evaporated in a few hours. In Paternò, Sunday, for the derby between red and blue clubs just 25 km away, the presale had opened last Monday. The 1500 tickets were purchased within hours. Then the judge disqualified the Paternesi field and the match will be played behind closed doors. Open up heaven. There is hope that the host club’s appeal will be accepted, otherwise Catania will play for the first time without the support of the public.
the field
–
The solitary primacy in the standings of the team coached by Ferraro is the result of seven victories out of as many matches: 17 goals scored by 11 different players (there is also the playmaker Lodi, one of the Serie A veterans), just 3 conceded. The beginning of a difficult season has turned into a triumphal march, a sort of procession in which the whole city takes part which, as happened for Parma, Palermo, Bari, in D wants to stay as little as possible.
