The City Council also accelerates the urbanization of the land on which the Ministry of Education will build the new school in La Aljorra
The City Council has accelerated, at the beginning of autumn, a dozen works that must be completed during the autumn. The objective is to improve the quality of life of the citizens of various neighborhoods before the end of this year. This is the case of the collector on Peroniño Street, to avoid flooding in the Barrio de la Concepción, which according to the planned plan must be completed in a month, as well as the urbanization of the surroundings of the future school of La Aljorra and the stabilization works of slopes in Gisbert street.
“The Peroniño collector will solve the problems of flooding in this area of the Barrio de la Concepción,” said the mayor, Noelia Arroyo, who recalled that to achieve this it is necessary to keep Peroniño street closed to traffic. To minimize inconvenience, the operators have concreted this first reopened section so that cars can circulate through this area while the work does not require specific cuts in this area.
The tasks consist of the installation of a new collector. The works also include the diversion of the network of the Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla. To do this, four sandbox boxes will be made, three of them at the intersections of Peroniño with Caserío Sevilla, Subida a los Pinos and Castillo a la Mota streets and the fourth in Malpica street, for the collection of solids and material dragging in rainwater from the mountains in the area. Likewise, the thirteen transverse grids are already in place and twelve existing scuppers on Peroniño Street, currently connected to the sanitation network, will be incorporated into the new network. The fifteen existing longitudinal scuppers will also be expanded. Finally, a new manhole will be set up for each scupper according to the size of the grate.
In the stabilization of the surroundings of the Cerro de la Concepción, a clearing of the vegetation has begun
Regarding the work of the accesses to the Colegio de La Aljorra, it is expected that this month the water passage will be expanded, which will allow the work to be relaunched within the established period. The project includes the installation of led luminaires in columns of 8 to 10 meters, the construction of new sidewalks, a new seven-meter road with two lanes and a hard shoulder, online parking area, bus lane, traffic lights and road signs, furniture urban, a wooden fence and garden areas.
“With the urbanization of the plot, which will be completed before the end of the year, the City Council complies with its part of the works and facilitates the work of the Autonomous Community so that it can begin the construction of the educational center,” Arroyo stressed.
In the stabilization of slopes in Calle Gisbert, the clearing and installation of lifelines has begun, which in the coming days will entail stabilization next to the old Hospital de Marina, as indicated by the City Council. “This work seeks a definitive consolidation of the slope and avoid landslides by means of very specific works that involve the installation of special networks, which aim to ensure the slope in the long term,” added the first mayor.
The performance takes place on both sides of Calle Gisbert. On the slope of the side where the Museum of Civil War Refuges is located, an area of more than 3,000 square meters will be acted upon, placing a rhomboidal mesh of two types, depending on the area, with bolts that will be sewn to the mountain . At the end of this section there will be a dynamic barrier of thirty linear meters of protection.
On the slope next to the Plaza de Toros, an area of 2,000 square meters will be acted upon, also installing mesh and bolts. In addition, the installation of 300 square meters of diamond mesh and revegetation is planned. The climb to the Castillo de la Concepción will also be subject to improvements to be specified. On the other hand, this month the works for the installation of Archery in the Media Legua also begin, which will end this year.
The sewerage network will also be improved in Los Dolores
The latest rains in Cartagena have led the City Council to reconsider its planning for improvements to the sewerage network and rainwater evacuation, especially in the Los Dolores neighborhood.
The works that the company that manages the maintenance of the sewage system and the drinking water supply network, Hidrogea, have meant improving the pipeline system on San Juan Bosco Street and surrounding areas. However, neighborhood sources have reported complaints in recent months regarding the problems that are generated in the streets Corredera, Río Júcar and those in that area every time there are showers of a certain intensity. “They become rivers because the channel of old boulevards is diverted there and the sewers do not channel that water,” explained the president of the neighborhood association, Ángel Ros.
A spokesman for the City Council informed LA TRUTH that its technicians are studying how to remedy these problems. “We will see if it is possible to carry out these works with the municipal budget, depending on our possibilities, or if it is Hidrogea that includes these works in its program to improve the water network service,” he said.
Torrential rains that dumped between 50 and 60 liters per square meter last week also created problems in Saint Lucia.
Neighbors and merchants of the Plaza de Molina suffered the entry of water in their portals and in their establishments. The mayor, Noelia Arroyo, assured that she considers “a priority” to address the necessary measures to avoid these problems. The president of the neighborhood association of this neighborhood. David García, indicated that he expects a decisive action in this regard. His counterpart from the Virgen de la Caridad neighborhood, Juan Gómez, also made known the problems suffered in the Plaza Cronista Casal.
