Presentations, reading clubs, short film screenings, round tables and award ceremonies are some of the scheduled activities
The El Batel Auditorium in Cartagena will soon host the 8th edition of the Cartagena Negra black, police and mystery literature festival. It will be on September 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10: 34 authors from the national scene will attend the different scheduled activities.
Four book presentations, four reading clubs, some screenings of short films, round tables (in which the genre will be addressed), a micro-story contest, two short films and the granting of some prizes – such as the IV ICUE Black Novel Prize or the VI Cartagena Negra Novel Award– are some of the activities that will take place.
On Tuesday, September 6, the conference will begin with the screening of the finalist short film at 5:15 p.m., followed by a round table at 5:30 p.m., moderated by Francicso Marín, in which the authors José Francisco Alonso –author of ‘Pisto a la Bilbao’ (Cosecha Negra Ediciones, 2022)–, Mar Moreno –’You never know who’s calling’ (Almuzara, 2021)–, Eduardo Fernán-López –’La dentellada’ (Titanium, 2021)– and Inés Doménech del Río –’Muerte nuptial’ (ACEN, 2021).
Teresa Cardona, Noemí Trujillo, Rosa Ribas, José Francisco Alonso, José Ángel Mañas and Benito Olmo are other participating authors.
After a conversation at 7:30 p.m. with the writer Rosa Ribas, moderated by Antonio Parra Sanz and Francisco Marín, in which she will present her latest book, ‘Lejos’ (Tusquets, 2022), the opening day will conclude at 7:30 p.m., with the delivery of the IV ICUE Black Novel Prize.
The programming of September 7 will start with the reading club, at 5:30 p.m., of the book ‘It will be our secret’ (Alrevés, 2022), by Empar Fernández. At the same time, Kika Sureda will present ‘Surviving’ (Lumen, 2022), by Arantza Portabales.
To end the afternoon, another finalist short film will be screened at 7:00 p.m., and at 7:15 p.m. the round table ‘Editoriales Negras’ will be held, moderated by Lorena Collados, in which Empar Fernández (Alrevés Editorial), Elia Barceló (Roca Editorial) will participate. , María Suré (Maeva Editions) and Teresa Cardona (Editorial Siruela).
On Thursday 8, at 5:30 p.m., the reading club ‘La forja de un rebel’ (Destino, 2022), by Lorenzo Silva and Noemí Trujillo, and the presentation of ‘Prohibido’ (MAR Editor, 2021) will be held. , by Enrique Pérez Balsa. At 7:00 p.m., another of the finalist short films will be screened, and at 7:30 p.m. there will be the round table ‘Matar a cuatro manos’, moderated by Salvador Martínez, in which Lorenzo Silva, Noemí Trujillo, Beatriz Roger, Luiso Soldevila, Jordi Ledesma and Jose Angel Manas.
On Friday, September 9, it will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the reading club of ‘El gran rojo’ (Alianza, 2021), by Benito Olmo, and the presentation of ‘La mano del muerto. Dystopia, Volume II’ (Red Circle, 2022), written by seven members of the literature blog ‘The Fifth Book’; Rosa Huertas will present. At 7:30 p.m., after the screening of one of the finalist short films, the round table ‘Expanding the genre’ will be held, moderated by Antonio Parra Sanz, and Cristina Higueras, Mónica Rouanet, Myriam Imedi and Rafael Guerrero will take part. The day will conclude at 10:00 p.m., with the 5th Live Black Short Story Contest, in the Mister Witt cafeteria.
On Saturday, September 10, the last day of Cartagena Nega, it will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the reading club ‘Gancho blind’ (Siruela, 2021), by Antonio Flórez Lage, and the round table ‘Cast to black’, moderated by Ana Ballabriga and in which Benito Olmo, Manuel Ríos San Martín and Santiago Díaz will participate. At the same time, at the Cafelab cafeteria, Manuel Acosta will present ‘The other girls’ (Reservoir books, 2022), by Santiago Díaz Cortés.
After the screening of another short, the day will end with the round table for the Black Cartagena Novel Prize (7:30 p.m.) and the delivery of the VI Prize (9:00 p.m.).
The finalist novels this year for the ICUE Negro award are: ‘You never know who’s calling’, by Mar Moreno; ‘Nuptial Death’, by Inés Doménech; ‘Pisto a la Bilbao’, by José Francisco Alonso; and ‘La Dentellada’, by Eduardo Fernán.
