Between the rain, three safety cars, a full course yellow and two penalties for the winner, there was no peace for race 2 of the fourth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia in Imola, which continues to surprise after the decision taken post-race by the stewards to cancel the 5+5 second penalty inflicted during the race on Marvin Klein, who therefore returns to being the winner also in the standings, as well as at the finish line of the Santerno track.
The two-time French Target Competition champion had taken the lead of the race on the second lap by overtaking poleman Lirim Zendeli and then maintained first place until the finish line, despite repeated attacks and the great pace shown by Francesco Braschi.
Klein, however, was given a double penalty during the race and his first place at the finish line became a seventh in the standings due to the 10 seconds added to his time. Surprisingly, however, the stewards backtracked and the French driver was given back the victory obtained on the track, which also means a very precious one-two finish in the weekend after the success in race 1 yesterday.
initially celebrated on the podium as the first Italian winner of the season. Braschi thus returned second (still on the podium and still a winner among the Rookies), Masters is third (like Klein however with many points recovered on the absent Larry Ten Voorde) and Oliver Gray fourth, therefore forced to postpone the real moment of his first podium in Carrera Cup to his first season in GT. As a matter of fact Braschi did not achieve his first victory in the single-make series.
In short, the standings reflect the actual order of arrival and now in the general standings Ten Voorde is still in the lead but Masters is second at only 9 points and Klein at minus 11. In fact for the two it is mission accomplished in Imola…
