Jamie Carragher, one of the most prominent English football experts, described the Manchester United team as “one of the worst-trained teams in the English Premier League,” with pressure on Erik Ten Hag, the team’s coach, intensifying. The criticism directed at Ten Hag intensified, especially after Manchester United lost 0-4 to its guest, Crystal Palace, yesterday, Monday, in the 36th round of the English Premier League football championship.
Manchester United’s balance, which suffered its 13th loss in the tournament this season compared to 16 wins and 6 draws, froze at 54 points, currently in eighth place in the competition standings. Ten Hag was forced to field 4 non-essential players in the defense line due to the curse of injuries that haunted the team. United also missed its Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes, but former Liverpool captain Carragher did not sympathize much with the Dutch coach.
Carragher launched a violent attack on Ten Hag in statements he made to Sky Sports television after the match, where he said: “This is one of the most poorly trained teams in the English Premier League. It’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. I understand that the back line missed key players, and that your performance level will decline, and your results will not be good when you are missing your best players. This is clear, but Ten Hag needs to improve their performances. You have to make us believe that there is something, or you are working on something. “If he loses his job, I don’t think he can have any complaints.”
Carragher explained in his statements: “I struggled to see how United would win, but I thought Palace might win 1-0 or 2-1 in a close match. “No team representing Manchester United should suffer such a big loss to Crystal Palace.”
Casemiro played alongside Jonny Evans in the heart of defence, but the duo suffered a bad evening, to the point that Carragher believes that the Brazilian’s days in the English Premier League are numbered. Although Casemiro’s contract with United expires in June 2026, Carragher advised the five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid to leave European football next July.
Manchester United is preparing for a heavy-caliber confrontation against its guest, Arsenal, next Sunday in the competition, before playing with its guest, Newcastle, in a postponed match, three days later, then concluding its matches in the competition by facing its host, Brighton, on May 19. It is possible that United are in their lowest ever ranking in the English Premier League, as the team ranked seventh in the 2013/2014 season, which was the first, after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson from the team, with 64 points, but it can no longer reach this balance. Of the points, it is two points behind Newcastle United, which is in sixth place.
