Baja California.- Great controversy has generated the knowledge that the Socorro candidate Irma Andazola Gómez died on May 23but his team did not report it, but continued with the promotional work, and it was between May 31 and June 1 that they learned of his death (by disease).
The above was revealed by national media; Andazola Gómez was a candidate for the Morena party to federal representative for the 4th. federal district, in Baja California.
Andazola Gómez, a lawyer, won her first federal seat in 2018.
His substitute, María Teresa Saavedra Talavera, would assume the deputyship and, now, the candidacy.
The controversy
It was until night of May 31 that sprouted the news that Andazola Gómez had died.
The media BrujulaNews reported on the night of Friday, May 31, the death of Andazola Gómez, and also questioned her campaign team for not informing the party or its supporters of the event. They even continued with publications about the deputy on the official website.
It was the Punto Norte media outlet that revealed it had access to the death certificate of Andazola Gómezwhere it is indicated that died on May 23 at 3:58 p.m. in the Medical Tower of the Quartz hotel, in Tijuanabecause of a malignant tumor and arterial hypertension. The outlet added that its body was cremated.
This Saturday, June 1, the leadership of Brunette in Baja California issued a statement of just a couple of lines in which it confirmed her death: “By this means, we inform you that today we were informed of the unfortunate death of our party colleague and candidate for the 4th federal district, Socorro Irma Andazola Gómez. “We send our most sensitive condolences and solidarity to his family. Rest in peace”.
Catalino Zavala, president of Morena in Baja California, did not give details, he only said that they had until this Saturday, June 1, to replace the candidate and present her to the National Electoral Institute (INE).
Andazola Gómez’s substitute is María Teresa Saavedra Talavera, who would assume the deputyship and candidacy that belonged to Socorro Irma.
