BYD, growth continues also thanks to Europe | FormulaPassion.it

With a very positive month of December, the 2021 of the Chinese manufacturer BYD ended with a lot of good news. The company, which also operates in Norway with the Tang SUV, grew by 75% in terms of overall sales in one year. Electricity reached 320,810 units, an increase of 145% compared to 2020.

Adding electric and plug-in hybrids, total sales were made official at the bar of 593,745 units, a record for BYD. Since dealing with electric vehicles, the Chinese automaker has sold 1.51 million electrified cars, the majority of them with the Blade battery, the project of which was followed internally, according to a statement from the company. BYD also has its own vehicle platform and hybrid system at its disposal, not to mention the battery business that can ‘stand up’ with supplies to others.

In 2021, the company recorded sales growth for 10 consecutive months. This will allow new investments to reach the sustainability goal, which with a lot of ambition and a thread of narcissism was entitled “Cool the Earth by one degree centigrade“.

Regarding cars, in December BYD sold 13,701 units of its Han sedan (cover photo), reserved for the Chinese market. The Tang SUV totaled 9,000 units registered, which contributed enormously to the share of 54,204 which represents the annual total. The small Yuan electric SUV also did strong in 2021, with 41,000 units sold in China. And now it is preparing to land in Singapore with the Yuan Plus variant. Tang, among these, is BYD’s outpost in Europe: in Norway it is having some success, even from critics, and this is one of the first steps of the possible wave of Chinese cars in the Old Continent. In this sense, BYD is demonstrating that landing abroad is not an impossible operation, despite the distrust of customers who have been accustomed to classic brands for years.
