A 16-story building was completely evacuated and closed by the Fire Department and Civil Defense of Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais. The action was taken due to a collapse in the structure this Monday, 8th.
The structural problem was noticed by residents in the early afternoon when a bang followed by a tremor and a small collapse occurred at the site.
This Tuesday, isolation continued within a radius of 60 meters starting from Rua Cassimiro de Abreu, in the Jardim São Luiz neighborhood, where the building is located.
At a meeting between the technical staff of Construtora Turano, responsible for the building, and a specialist from the Fire Department, the removal of vehicles parked at the site was authorized. The removal is due to stabilization work with supports on the pillars already started by the construction company.
Residents of adjacent residences were also able to enter the premises to remove pets and recover other objects and documents.
According to the Fire Department, at around 1:17 pm, the incident was recorded and the building was closed. The military emptied the building's water tank and technical reserve, which totaled around 50,000 liters of water removed. Civil Defense and the Military Police also monitored the work at the site.
