Mexico City.- Guadalupe Carrillo Fuentes, younger brother of former drug trafficker Amado Carrillo Fuentes, “The Lord of the Skies”, was run over and killed this morning in the Municipality of Navolato, Sinaloa.
Nicknamed “El Lapa” and 54 years old, he was driving around 1:00 a.m. this Tuesday on the highway that connects Ejido 5 de Mayo with El Limoncito, in a red Spark when he stopped because his rear tire was flat, according to initial reports.
His vehicle was in the north-south lane, so he took out his tools and the spare tire, but when he tried to change the tire he was hit by another vehicle, whose characteristics are unknown, while the driver fled the scene.
The car driven by Carrillo Fuentes was left with a dent in the driver’s door and the left passenger door. Police reported finding a hydraulic jack and a crossbar to change the tire.
Elements of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sinaloa removed the body and transferred it to the amphitheater in Culiacán, where the relatives came this morning to identify it.
There it was confirmed that he was the younger brother of “El Señor de los Cielos,” leader of the Juárez Cartel, who earned that nickname for the fleet of aircraft he had to transport drugs, including several Boeing 727s.
The former drug trafficker died in 1997, at the age of 42, in Mexico City, while undergoing facial plastic surgery and liposuction to change his appearance.
