The police added that the explosion was caused by an explosive device carried by a passenger who was killed in the explosion, and stated that they believed they knew the identity of the passenger, but could not reveal it.
“Although the motive behind this incident is not yet understood, given the full circumstances of the incident, the explosion has been classified as a terrorist incident and the Counter-Terrorism Police is still investigating,” said Ross Jackson of the Counter Terrorism Police.
