In addition to being present on the single-seaters of Formula 1 who will race the Italian Grand Prix, Brembo has set up a kind of stand for the whole weekend of Monzain which the main components of the system are shown Sensify, one of the most interesting technological innovations presented by the Italian company over the last 12 months. In the representation with a ‘transparent’ car, the architecture of the system can be observed live.
Sensify, which will be marketed from 2024, is a braking system that integrates a predictive software based on advanced artificial intelligence and the ‘normal’ Brembo components such as calipers, discs and friction materials.
The name chosen by Brembo derives from the fusion of two words: Sense, which is the ability with which a person perceives an external signal, a stimulus, and Simplify, which means simplicity in installing the product in harmony with the vehicle in the best possible way. The system combines brake design with the integration of a digital control system and sensors that manage each wheel independently. The result is more precise driving of the car, an increase in performance and confidence. Thanks to the optimized braking action on each wheel, combined with the absence of resistance between pads and discs which minimizes emissions, Sensify is also a more sustainable braking solution.
With this system every single wheel is braked independently from two electro-hydraulic modules for the front and two electromechanical modules for the rear. All managed by control units, actuators and sensors that follow a special algorithm developed by Brembo, constantly in comparison with the ABS anti-lock braking system and the ESC traction and stability controls. According to Brembo, one of the major advantages of the system is the reaction time that is able to drop by 0.05 seconds, down to 0.15 compared to the current 0.20. This of course leads to improve the management of braking distancesresulting in greater safety and less wear.
