Unlike what happened at the World Cup, which ended with Brazil’s silver medal almost a month ago in Belgium, the Pan American Games use individual apparatus qualifiers to define the team champions. In the debut of the multi-Olympic and world medalist at the Pan-American Games, Rebeca Andrade stayed out of the floor apparatus, preserving her knee, and advanced to the finals in the other three apparatus, with the best average in the vault and second in the uneven bars and the beam.
The big details that ended up leaving Brazil with silver were the mistakes made by Jade Barbosa and Carolyne Pedro in presenting the uneven bars. Flávia Saraiva secured four individual finals: floor, uneven bars, individual all-around (which adds up the scores from the four devices) and beam. Jade Barbosa is in the all-around decision. Júlia Soares still managed to get a place in the solo final.
In the total team competition, Brazil secured the silver medal, finishing the race with 161.594 points. The United States, which performed first, reached the mark of 165.196 points. Canada secured bronze with 154.230 points.
