Bortuzzo: Cassation, yes on appeal bis
New appeal process only with regard to the aggravating circumstance of premeditation for Lorenzo Marinelli And Daniel Bazzano, the two responsible for the injury, in February 2019 in Rome, of the swimmer Manuel BORTUZZO, who was then paralyzed in the legs. And the decision of the judges of the first criminal section of the Cassation after today in the hearing the prosecutor had asked for an appeal process bis to verify the existence of the aggravating circumstance of premeditation. Marinelli and Bazzano in the night between 2 and 3 February 2019 in Piazza Eschilo, Axa district of the capital, they fired three gunshots against BORTUZZO, who was shot in the back, and against his girlfriend Martina Rossi, who was next to him at a vending machine of cigarettes and was miraculously unharmed.
Bortuzzo, the first degree convictions and appeal
The two attackers were sentenced in first degree with shortened procedure at 16 for attempted premeditated double murder and carrying, detaining and receiving a firearm. In appeal then the sentence dropped to 14 years and 8 months after the second degree judges had dropped the accusation of attempted premeditated murder against BORTUZZO’s girlfriend. If in the new trial the appellate judges exclude the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, for the two defendants there could be a new sentence reduction.
